Mumbai Local Trains Start: On Wednesday, Maharashtra cabinet Minister Aslam Shaikh hinted that people who are fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine could be permitted to travel unrestricted in suburban train services within two to three days.

News agency ANI in a report stated that the fully vaccinated passengers in Maharashtra could be allowed to avail the train services soon.

It has to be noted that the local train services which are also known as the lifeline of Mumbai are currently functioning for the employees associated with essential services due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, of late, there has been demands from the general public for the resumption of the suburban train services.

The ANI report stated that while speaking to media, Shaikh informed that a detailed discussion took place in the state cabinet meeting regarding the resumption of Mumbai local train and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses for fully vaccinated people.

Shaikh said, "As a Minister, I am also of the view that person whose two doses are completed should be allowed to train in Mumbai local, we have also informed Chief Minister about this. " He added that after studying the report by the task force, a decision on Mumbai local will be taken in next two to three days.

Due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, the restrictions that were brought in the city of Mumbai have been slowly relaxed. He also said that the timing in the restaurants also has to be increased and a decision on this will be taken soon as well.

Speaking of COVID-19 related news in India, as per the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as on July 29, 2021, 43,509 new cases have been reported in India over the last 24 hours.
