On Sunday (July 7) morning, local train services between Kasara and Titwala stations in Maharashtra's Thane district, which borders Mumbai, came to a standstill owing to heavy rains and a fallen tree, officials said.

In a post on X, DRM Mumbai CR said, "As per RGM Machine’s report, Due To Heavy Rain at 05.30 Hrs, Soil came on the tracks on the Down Line between ATGAON, at KM 96/42. Engineering Control declared Track Unsafe at 06.20 Hrs."

“Current Update: Restoration work in progress time will take up to 2 to 3hrs for normalisation of traffic,” it added. 

Waterlogging has been reported on the tracks between Vashind and Khadavli stations on the Kalyan-Kasara route. Long-distance trains are diverted or terminated prematurely, affecting train services.

The following trains were diverted via DIVA - BSR - JL due to waterlogging between Vasind and Khadavli section:

Train No. 12336 LTT - BGP Express

The following trains were diverted via JL- BSR - DIVA due to waterlogging between Vasind and Khadavli sections:

Since last month, Mumbai and surrounding areas have seen severe rains on occasion.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate rainfall and a usually gloomy sky in the city on Sunday. The city is anticipated to receive light rain on July 8 and 9, then moderate rain on July 10.
