The Indian Railways passengers on the Delhi-Mumbai route have to spend less time in Rajdhani Express! The journey will take one hour less from today. This will be possible due to the push-pull technology of using two locomotives adopted by the national transporter to run train number 12951/52 Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express. Now, it will be pulled by two locomotives, one at each end of the train.
According to the statement from the Indian Railways, push-pull technology will reduce travel time by 60 minutes. It is expected that with the help of push-pull method, Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express, which currently takes more than 15 hours, the travel time will come down by an hour. The train travels at a maximum speed of 130 kmph.
The push-pull technology may also increase the average speed of passenger trains in future, besides help saving energy from two engines during braking. This technology is also expected to be used in other trains. This technology may reduce the problem of endless delays of trains in the Indian Railways network. Indian Railways is taking various measures to reduce the journey time of passengers.
Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) published a report on train puctuality in 2018 and which showed that Indian Railways had the worst punctuality performance in three years. From April 2017-March 2018, the punctuality of mail and express trains was 71.39 percent, down from 76.69 per cent in 2016-17.
In recent years, the national transporter has taken various measures to improve the Railway network's performance. It laid new tracks and introduced technologies to enhance the journey experience.
