Mumbai coronavirus update: On Thursday, Mumbai reported 143 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city. On Wednesday, Dharavi threw up 2 more positive cases taking the total number of such cases in the densely-populated slum area to 9. After this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), today, ordered a ban on all vegetable/fruit markets, hawkers & sellers in containment area/buffer zone in Dharavi, during the lockdown period, as a precaution against the spread of Coronavirus.

However the pharmacies in the area have been allowed to remain open.

As pee ANI reports, BMC has confirmed that they will come up with door to door supply of essentials in the area, by later today or tomorrow.

In a bid to control the spread of novel coronavirus in the city the Mumbai civic body also announced that wearing of masks in public places is compulsory.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 162 new Coronavirus cases on Thursday, taking the state tally to 1,297. The other cities where people have tested positive are Kalyan-Dombivli-four, Pune and Aurangabad-three each, Pimpri Chinchwad and Navi Mumbai-two each, and Yavatmal, Thane city, Mira Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar and Sindhudurg- one each, the official confirmed.

The coronavirus death toll in Pune rose to 20 on Thursday after two more patients succumbed to the disease in the Maharashtra district, officials said.
