Mumbai airport ALERT! Hundreds of flights delayed today by monsoon rains; All you need to know
One of the busiest airports in India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Friday witnessed 196 arrivals and departures delayed in just 15 hours. The flight delay numbers are increasing as the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has issued an orange alert for the city.
As the monsoon is in full swing it has affected a host of services in Mumbai today. In fact, whether it is local trains or flights, rains have slowed operations in Mumbai. One of the busiest airports in India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Friday witnessed 196 arrivals and departures delayed in just 15 hours. The flight delay numbers are increasing as the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has issued an orange alert for the city. Reportedly, more than 3 cm rainfall was recorded on Thursday.
Various airlines have already warned their passengers about the delay in flights from and to Mumbai airport. It looks like the situation is not expected to change anytime soon, as weather forecaster has predicted that heavy rain is likely to continue in Mumbai for the next 5 days.
According to the Mumbai airport website, 117 flights were delayed during departures including both domestic and international airlines. Majority of flights were delayed between 09 AM till 12 PM.
Similarly, approximately 79 flights were delayed (arrivals) at Mumbai airport. For arrivals, majority flights were delayed from 12 PM to 3 PM, with more delays to follow.
