More teaching jobs coming? Who is responsible? HRD Minister has this to say
The HRD Minister said in the parliament directing the Indian universities that the onus of filling up teaching jobs in Central universities lies on the varsities as they are autonomous bodies.
Giving a hint that more teaching jobs are coming into the Indian universities, the Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said in the parliament directing the Indian universities that the onus of filling up teaching jobs in central universities lies on the varsities as they are autonomous bodies. The HRD Minister speak about the teaching jobs while responding to a question in the lower house about the shortage of professors in the Indian universities.
"Occurring of vacancies and filling up is a continuous process. The University Grants Commission (UGC) continuously monitors it with varsities. However, the onus of filling up the teaching posts lies on central universities which are autonomous bodies created under Acts of Parliament," the minister said while responding to a written question over shortage of professors in the Indian varsities.
There are over 11,000 teachings staff-in position against the sanctioned strength of over 17,500 teaching staff in central universities across the country.
