Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as PM on Thursday, speculations are rife over who will get what in terms of ministry and portfolio. According to a Zee Business TV report citing sources, following is the list of expected ministers with their respective portfolios:-
Amit Shah: Finance Minister
Rajnath Singh: Home Minister
Piyush Goyal: Railways Minister or Defence Minister
Suresh Prabhu: Commerce Minister
Aviation Ministry: The portfolio may go to BJP's ally, maybe JDU
Nitin Gadkari: Transport Ministry. Also, Additional Charge of Railways Ministry
Anupriya Patel: Cabinet level
Shiv Sena: The BJP ally may get 2 ministerial berths
JDU: The BJP ally may get 2 ministerial berths
LJP: The BJP ally may get 1 Cabinet berths
Ravi Shankar Prasad: Law Ministry or Telecom Ministry
Nirmala Sitharaman: External Affairs Ministry
Sadananda Gowda: Law Ministry, if Ravi Shankar Prasad gets Telecom Ministry
Smriti Irani: Amethi MP may also get some important portfolio
Arun Jaitley is ruled out in terms of ministerial berth as ending all speculations, he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he does not want to be a minister in the new BJP government due to health reasons. In the four-paragraph letter, Jaitley said he had orally informed Modi about his desire not to be a part of the new BJP government to enable him to concentrate on treatment and health. "I am writing to you to formally request you that I should be allowed a reasonable time for myself, my treatment and my health, and therefore, not be a part of any responsibility, for the present, in the new government," he wrote.
