Nearly 53% of the 8.57 lakh electors exercised their voting rights by 1 pm on Tuesday, as reported by the Election Commission. The voting percentage stood at 52.73 within the first six hours of polling.

The outcome of the state assembly polls will be announced after the counting of votes on December 3.

NGOCC's Appeal to Reschedule Counting

A delegation from NGOCC, comprising five members, met Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in New Delhi on Monday. It appealed for the rescheduling of the vote counting date, expressing optimism about the Election Commission's response.

Approximately 4,000 personnel will be engaged in the counting process for the Mizoram assembly polls. Mizoram's Chief Electoral Officer, Madhup Vyas, stated that the state election department was fully prepared, with 13 counting centres established across the state.

Mizoram elections: How many voters are there in the state?

As per the latest data of the electoral roll, the number of eligible electors in the state of Mizoram is 8,51,895, among which, 50,611 are young electors who attained the age of 18 years, and 3,243, 1, and 8,490 are marked as PwD, Third Gender, and Senior Citizen (80+), respectively.

Previous Mizoram poll outcomes

In the 2018 Assembly elections, the Mizo National Front (MNF) secured 26 seats, claiming a 37.8% vote share, leading to a change in power from the Congress.
The Mizo National Front, the Indian National Congress, and the Zoram People's Movement have fielded candidates for all 40 seats. Additionally, the BJP has candidates in 23 seats, reflecting a diverse political landscape in Mizoram.
