Arunachal Pradesh CM wrote: “Today for the first-time livestock vaccines were delivered by drone from Kangkong to Paglam in the Lower Dibang Valley district. The exercise was done with the assistance of GoI and Techeagle Company."
He further tweeted, " Under the guidance of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, drone is being harnessed in Arunachal to further 'ease of delivery' and encourage the culture of innovation (sic)."
The drones of Redwing Aerospace were used to deliver the vaccines donated by IIL. This Bengaluru-based company is the brain behind 'Medicines from Sky' initiative. The project supported by the US Agency for International Development is currently in its initial stages.
IIL has collaborated on the project with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry department of the government of Arunachal Pradesh, and a drone service provider, according to the company's news release.
Animal vaccines to treat cattle with FMD, were first flown from Roing to Paghlam in the northeastern state. Raksha Ovac (FMD) vaccination was delivered by drone over a 20-kilometer aerial distance. This first drone flight not only made it possible for vaccine doses to be delivered more quickly and on schedule across challenging terrains, but also opened up new opportunities for vaccine distribution.
