Malang box office collection day 3: Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor and Disha Patani starrer Malang has managed a decent opening weekend at the box office despite its poor start and largely negative reviews. The film had opened to a Rs 6.71 crore on Friday and witnessed a slight jump over the weekend, raking in Rs 8.89 crore and Rs 9.76 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. This took Malang's overall weekend collection to Rs 25.36 crore.

According to movie critic, business analyst and influencer Taran Adarsh, the collections were better in multiplexes and the film needs to maintain the momentum on weekdays to register a decent lifetime collection. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film also stars Kunal Khemu in an important role.

With this, the film has also given Aditya Roy Kapur's best opening in solo lead. Before this, the record was held by Aashiqui 2 which had earned Rs 20.50 crore in 2013. His last solo release, Ok Jaanu had raked in Rs 13.80 crore in its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, older releases like Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior continue to dominate box office. It has taken its lifetime collection to Rs 266.88 crore.
