According to the report, this will the first EMU train by Indian Railways to use solar power. The roofs of the coaches will have solar power panels which will produce energy up to 3.6 KV. This will reduce electricity taken from overhead wire, thereby reducing use of power as well as in the electricity bill, the report added.

Further, it said the new EMU train will come with several features while taking into consideration the daily passengers travelling in Mumbai locals. To facilitate local passengers, the train will have more space to accommodate more passengers, besides having adequate space for luggage, said the report.

The new EMU train will also extend more security features. If passengers face any trouble during their journey, they can directly contact Guard of the train from their coach, the report said, adding that in case of heavy downpour, the train can be run at a slower pace.

Looking at recurring incidents of mishaps, the train has been facilitated to leave the platform only when all doors of the compartments are closed, the report added.

Notably, Indian Railways recently launched superfast special train Vande Bharat Express, which was earlier known as Train 18. The Vande Bharat Express will soon run on three new routes, announced Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
