An official statement from the government release said, "The lockdown has not been lifted (from Friday). The proposal is still under consideration.” This statement came hours after Wadettiwar made his announcement.

As per news agency IANS, hours after Wadettiwar's announcement, the state government issued the statement on lifting the lockdown in the state of Maharashtra. The statement said, "In view of the deadly and changing form of the coronavirus, it is important to decide whether or not to life the ongoing curbs. The restrictions have not yet been lifted in the state."
Last Sunday, on May 30, 2021, the Maharashtra government decided to extend the lockdown in the state for another 15 days. While addressing the state, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, "We are putting in place restrictions and not a strict lockdown. There are a few districts in Maharashtra where numbers are going high, especially in rural areas. We need to control this." He also added that depending on the case tally of the districts, certain relaxations and restrictions will be enforced.
The government statement issued pointed out that under its 'Break the Chain' orders, the state government has started to give certain relaxations on regular basis. Also, the Disaster Management Department is considering a five-phased unlocking of the state based on the weekly COVID-19 positivity rate and the availability of oxygen beds. Soon, detailed guidelines will be issued by the state government in accordance with the situation for tightening or relaxing the lockdown restrictions.
As per an ANI tweet on June 3, 2021, the state of Maharashtra recorded 15,229 new infections, 307 deaths and 25,617 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate in the state is 94.73 per cent. Presently, there are 2,04,974 active cases in the state.
