The Maharashtra government has issued a list of guidelines listing out what will be allowed and not allowed in different zones of the state. The criteria has been used for dividing the districts of the country is into three zones Red, Orange and Green. Out of total 36 districts in Maharashtra, 14 are in Red Zone, 16 in Orange Zones and 6 are in Green Zones. Outlining the list of activities that will be allowed in Maharashtra during the third phase of government-mandated lockdown, the guidelines say that all types of shops have been allowed to open in rural areas except malls and shopping complexes.

Whereas the red zones in Maharashtra is to have stricter curbs than rest of state. The red zone areas in the state is Mumbai, MMR, Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Malegaon Municipal Corporation where no relaxation has been given.
 
Activities in containment zones will be with strict perimeter control, the establishment of clear entry and exit points, movement of people only for essential services and medical reasons and recording of people moving in and out.

Red Zone lockdown: 
1. Rickshaws, taxis and bus services in the red zone will remain closed.

2. Salons and spas in the Red Zone will remain closed

Orange and Green Zone relaxations:
All types of shops will be opened in Orange and Green Zones except malls and shopping complexes. As per the guidelines, only five non-essential shops, including liquor shops, can be opened in each lane. However, there is no restriction on the number of shops selling essential items.

Relaxations:
Private offices and other government offices in Red, Orange and Green Zones will be opened in the presence of 33% employees. Other employees will have to be given the option of work from home.
In the red zone districts, there are some areas where coronavirus infection has been not prevalent for over a month so these areas are known as non-containment zones. Such non-containment areas will have some relaxation, where shops selling non-essential commodities, like clothes, footwear, liquor, stationery, among others will be opened.

However, social distancing norms have to be followed by all the shops. The timing of the shops will be finalised by the local authorities, such as municipal commissioners as well as district collectors.
