Maharashtra: Your electricity bill will increase by up to 10% from this month – Check hiked per unit rate
Power Tariff: According to a Zee Business report, four electricity distribution companies – Tata Power, Adani Electricity, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) and Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply (BEST) will increase the charges for customers beginning April 1.
Power Tariff: Residents of Maharashtra will have to pay more for electricity starting from the month of April as the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has hiked the tariff on electricity for FY 2023-24 by 5 to 10 per cent. This came after the MERC agreed to the distribution companies' proposal and announced the out-of-turn hike.
The electricity tariff rate is the rate per unit at which the electrical energy is sold to a consumer.
According to a Zee Business report, four electricity distribution companies – Tata Power, Adani Electricity, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL), and Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply (BEST) will increase the charges for customers beginning April 1.
For households that receive electricity bills every two months, the usage for March-April will show separate calculations of units consumed between March 1 to 31 based on the older tariff, and for units consumed between April 1 to 30 based on the hiked slab rates.
Power Tariff: How much more will users have to pay?
MSEDCL
MSEDCL will charge 5.58% more for 0-100 units of electricity. For 101-300 units the company will charge 10.81 per cent more, for 301 to 500 units the rate will be hiked by 14.78 per cent, and for 500 and above units - the charges will be raised by 16.74 per cent.
Tata Power
Tata Power will charge 4.73 per cent more for 0-100 units of electricity. For 101-300 units the company will charge 7.33 per cent more, for 301 to 500 units the rate will be hiked by 10.98 per cent, and for 500 and above units - the charges will be raised by 11.63 per cent.
Adani Electricity
Adani Electricity will charge 5.66 per cent more for 0-100 units of electricity. For 101-300 units the company will charge 7.76 per cent more, for 301 to 500 units the rate will be hiked by 9.66 per cent, and for 500 and above units the charges will be raised by 10.76 per cent.
BEST
BEST or Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport will charge 3.69 per cent more for 0-100 units of electricity. For 101-300 units users will have to pay 7.04 per cent more, for 301 to 500 units the rate will be hiked by 10.63 per cent, and for 500 and above units the charges will be raised by 12.6 per cent.
