LPG prices hiked by Rs 5 per cylinder; Jet fuel also up over 2%
Every month, the state-owned oil firms revise the prices of cooking gas and aviation turbine fuel in metro cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai.
The price of both cooking gas (LPG) and jet fuels were increased on Wednesday with immediate effect.
As per Indian Oil Corp. website, the price of LPG for 14.2 kg cylinder in metro cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai was increased by nearly Rs 5 per cylinder to Rs 495.69 per cylinder, Rs 498.43 per cylinder, Rs 498.38 per cylinder and Rs 483.69 per cylinder respectively.
Prices of LPG in previous month was at Rs 491.13 per cylinder in Delhi, Rs 493.83 per cylinder in Kolkata, Rs 493.80 per cylinder in Mumbai and Rs 479.11 per cylinder in Kolkata.
Also price of LPG for 19 kg cylinder were increased by Rs 147 per cylinder in Delhi to Rs 1310.50, Kolkata at Rs 1343.50, Mumbai at Rs 1268.50 and Chennai at Rs 1391.50 compared to previous month charges.
Last year in July month, the government has asked state-owned oil firms to increase prices every month of LPG to eliminate all subsidies by March 2018. Since then, the price of subsidised LPG rates has gone up by Rs 76.51 per cylinder.
While from November 01, 2017, now airlines will be charged ATF prices of Rs 54,143 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 58,478 per litre in Kolkata, Rs 53,430 per litre in Mumbai and Rs 56,934 per litre in Chennai.
Highest increase was made in Kolkata and Chennai at Rs 1,141 per litre and Rs 1,164 per litre, respectively. Meanwhile, in New Delhi and Mumbai fuel prices were hiked by Rs 1,098 per litre and Rs 1,112 per litre respectively.
For international airlines, ATF is set at $584 per litre in New Delhi, $629 in Kolkata, $592 in Mumbai and $594 in Chennai.
For airlines operating in India, ATF, lease rentals, maintenance and employee benefit expenses account for over 70% of their cost.
