LPG cylinder prices have been increased and that too just a day after Diwali. The common man will now have to pay over Rs 2 extra for the subsidised gas cylinder that is delivered at home.
LPG cylinder prices have been increased and that too just a day after Diwali. The common man will now have to pay over Rs 2 extra for the subsidised gas cylinder that is delivered at home. LPG cylinder price hike became necessary as the government ordered a rise in the dealers' commission. After the LPG cylinder price hike, Delhiites will have to pay Rs 507.42 for 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder - it was Rs 505.34 earlier. Mumbai price is Rs 505.05, in Kolkata it is Rs 510.70 and in Chennai LPG price is Rs 495.39.
For those who want to make this cheaper, will have to adopt a hands on approach. After that, they can slash a few rupees off the price. How? By taking delivery of the LPG cylinder themselves from the distributor's establishment.
LPG distributors' commission for 14.2-kg cylinder and 5-kg cylinder was last fixed at Rs 48.89 and Rs 24.20 respectively in September 2017.
The new commission that dealers will get is made up of Rs 30.08 establishment charges and Rs 20.50 delivery charges for a 14.2-kg cylinder and for 5 kg cylinder, the establishment charges have been fixed at Rs 15.04 and the rest Rs 10.25 are delivery charges.
Those who want to save a few bucks can get the refill cylinder picked up themselves and they do not have to pay the delivery charge! Yes, this extra amount will be waived if you pick up gas cylinder yourself.

However, this hack is good only if you do not end up paying more for delivery by using your own vehicle! if you do go to pick up the cylinder, weigh the amount of time and other costs that you will end up paying for picking up cylinder from distributor yourself.
