Movie critic, business analyst and influencer Taran Adarsh called the film disappointing and added that it lacs the impact of the original Kanchana. While Adarsh said that Akshay Kumar is in terrific form, weak screenwriting lets the film down.

“#Laxmii: DISAPPOINTING. Lacks the impact of the original [#Kanchana]... #AkshayKumar in terrific form, but weak screenwriting + forced comedy are downers... Gathers momentum in concluding portions... Expected so much more! #LaxmiiReview,” Adarsh tweeted.

Earlier the film was to be called Laxmi Bomb. Keeping in mind and respecting the sentiments of its viewers, the producers of the film - Shabinaa Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar decided to change the title of their film. The horror-comedy also starring Kiara Advani is now titled as Laxmii.

The film was also in news earlier this year after its digital rights were sold at a whopping Rs 125 cr.

Laxmmi Bomb is an Hindi-language comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence in his Hindi directorial debut. The film is a remake of of the Tamil movie Muni 2: Kanchana. One of the most successful contemporary actors, Kumar has more than 100 films under his belt. The actor has received a National Film Award for Rustom.

Advani, who made her acting debut with Fugly in 2014 is known for her performances in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kabir Singh and Lust Stories.
