Indirect taxes that come into effect from today will make some articles cheaper, while making others dearer
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this budget announced many changes in indirect tax structure, and most of them come into effect from April 1, as the new financial year starts. These taxes will make some articles cheaper, while making others dearer. Check here what are the products that are going to be cheaper or dearer.
1- Imported smartphones: The government has increased Customs duty on imported mobiles from 15 per cent to 20 per cent.
2- Smartwatch: Customs duty on smartwatches increased from 10 per cent to 20 percent.
3- Diamond jewellery: Customs duty increased from 2.5 per cent to 5 per cent
4- Silk fabric: Increased from 10 per cent to 20 per cent
5- Packaged juice: Custom duty increased from 30 per cent to 35 per cent.
6- Fruit and vegetable juice: Increased from 30 Per cent to 50%
7- Makeup kits, manicure, pedicure: Custom duty on these products increased from 10 per cent to 20 per cent
8- Deodorant: Customs duty increased from 10 per cent to 20 percent
9- Cashew (Caju): Custom duty decreased from 5 per cent to 2.5 percent.
