With Rs 6.45 crore collection on Saturday, 10th day of its release, the film has so far earned Rs 116 crore. If the trend continues, the movie is going to touch the Rs 150-crore target very soon. From the beginning, North India box office lead the collection rally. However, lately, earning from other areas has seen an upsurge.
The patriotic movie may see another surge in collection on Sunday. The trend is healthy. However, earnings in the coming week will give more clear picture about the prospect of the film. It has already surpassed the collections of two other recent releases - Badla and Luka Chuppi.
"#Kesari picks up momentum on [second] Sat... North India leads, while other circuits are back on track... ₹ 150 cr is within reach if it continues to trend strongly on subsequent days... [Week 2] Fri 4.45 cr, Sat 6.45 cr. Total: ₹ 116.76 cr. India biz," Film trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh tweeted today.
On the first day itself, the movie earned of Rs 21 crore, which is the highest collection of this year. This number was despite Kesari released in the later half of the day due to Holi. Following the days too, it pulled a large number of audience to the theatres. The film portrays the valour of Sikh soldiers in 1897, when 21 of them fought against thousands of Afgan tribes and defeated the invaders. This is known as the Battle of Saragarhi.
Though late, the unmatched valour of these soldiers has received the attention of the countrymen. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh.
