The cost of the ticket was Rs 200. The tickets were issued in 4 series – MA, MB, MC and MD. The results were being released live at the time of the filing of the story as per the information on the website 

The first prize carries a prize money of Rs 5 cr which was won by a person from Ernakulum. The ticket number was MD 240331.  The second prize of Rs 10 lakhs has been awarded to 4 people while a 3rd prize of Rs 200,000 was given to 8 persons.  

The 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th prize winners received Rs 100,000, Rs 5000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively. The 8th prize winners received Rs 500. A consolation prize of Rs 100,000 was also given to 3 people. 

The lottery in Kerala is run by the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries. The department which came into existence on September 1, 1967, released its first lottery ticket on November 1, the same year. 

The department now rolls out seven weekly lotteries viz. Pratheeksha, Dhanasree, Win-Win, Akshaya, Bhagyanidhi, Karunya and Pournami lotteries and six bumper lotteries. The department, which started with a few personnel, now has around 465 employees under its Directorate located at Vikas Bhavan at Thiruvananthapuram, 14 District Offices and a Regional Deputy Directorate at Ernakulam. 

More over three Taluk Lottery Offices are also functioning one each at Punalur in Kollam District, Kattappana in Idukki District and Thamarassery in Kozhikkode District. The department which was initially under the Department of Finance was later brought under the Taxes Department.

With its humble beginning, the department was to set an example for the entire country, the department claims. Soon many other states jumped into the bandwagon by starting their own lotteries, it says.
