Film critic and trade analyst Sumit Kadel said that Kedarnath movie has opened with a moderate occupancy rate today.

"#Kedarnath opens with 15% occupancy across India," he said in a tweet.

Kadel had earlier said that Kedarnath movie may earn around Rs 5 crore on opening day.

"I am expecting #Kedarnath Opening in the range of Rs 4-5 cr nett," he said.

Kadel said that reports about Kedarnath are bad while hinting that the movie may not perform well on the box office.

"#Kedarnath is a victim of grotty writing & Shoddy VFX. Shushant & Sara delivered a knockout performance but they couldn’t rise above the cursory script. Tragedy sequences are decent but lacks emotions which required. Overall Kedarnath is a weak film. Rating- **," tweeted Kadel.

Even film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh rated the film as dull.

"#OneWordReview… #Kedarnath: DULL. Rating: ** , Unconvincing love story... Sketchy and unexciting screenwriting... Few moments [sequences depicting the floods] stand out... Emotions are superficial... Sara Ali Khan makes a terrific debut... Sushant is ordinary... #KedarnathReview," he wrote on Twitter.

If film critics are to be believed, then only word of mouth boost can save Kedarnath film, which is based on a disaster, from becoming a disaster itself.

A ban has also been imposed on the screening of the film "Kedarnath" in seven districts of Uttarakhand in view of protests by Hindu outfits. The districts where the film has been banned include Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Tehri and Almora.
