Veteran filmmaker Kasinadhuni Viswanath — popularly known as Kalatapasvi — died at night on Thursday. He was 92.

He was undergoing treatment for age-related illnesses at a private hospital in Hyderabad, news agency ANI reported. 

A Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, Kasinadhuni Viswanath is known for his work primarily in Telugu cinema.

He was born in Andhra Pradesh on February 19, 1930.

Viswanath is acredited with having directed several award-winning films, including 'Sankarabharanam', 'Sagara Sangamam', 'Saptapadi', 'Kaamchor' and 'Sanjog'.

He was also active in Tamil and Hindi cinema.

Kasinadhuni Viswanath also acted during his six-decades long career. He directed and acted in 'Swarabhishekam', a 2004 Telugu film.

Twitter was aflush with posts grieving Viswanath's death.
