Karnataka Lockdown: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a video conference with deputy commissioners of eight districts on Thursday expressed concern over COVID-19 cases not decreasing as expected in the state. However, the state government has allowed relaxations in the lockdown restrictions, except for 11 districts where the positivity rate is more than 15 per cent. In these districts, there will be complete lockdown till June 21, 2021.

According to the data shared by the Karnataka government, the state reported 11,042 new COVID-19 cases and 194 deaths on Thursday, June 10, 2021, taking the tally to 27,39,290. Now, based on the positivity rate, the districts that have more than 15 per cent positivity rate, have been asked to continue with the lockdown guidelines while in the remaining districts, including Bengaluru city, the restrictions have been relaxed, informed Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar to ANI.

ANI also put out a series of tweets to inform the decision taken by the Karnataka government. ANI tweeted, "Based on positivity rate, districts that have more than 15% of positivity rate (about 11 districts ) we've continued with the existing lockdown guidelines. In the remaining districts including Bengaluru city we've relaxed the guidelines: Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar."

 

According to a DNA report, on Thursday, ahead of CM Yediyurappa's visit, the Hassan district of Karnataka had decided to extend the ongoing lockdown till June 21, 2021. While speaking to the reporters minister K Gopalaiah said, "Now lockdown has been imposed till June 14, same will be discussed with officials and it will continue till June 21 in Hassan. It will be conveyed to the CM as he's coming to Hassan tomorrow."

Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar also informed that the 11 districts with positivity rate more than  15 per cent will have complete lockdown till June 21, 2021, however, from June 14, some relaxations will be granted. ANI has also tweeted the districts in this category, "Chikmagalur, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru rural, Mandya, Belagavi & Kodagu are in complete lockdown till June 21. From June 14, these 11 districts will have some relaxation like opening of essential shops: K Sudhakar."

 

Sudhakar also informed that there will be relaxations for parks as well till 10 AM. The night curfew will continue and also the weekend curfew that starts from Friday 7 PM till Monday 5 AM will continue till June 21, 2021.
