Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday announced Rs one lakh relief amount to each of the families under Below Poverty Line (BPL) which lost an earning or adult member due to Covid-19.

"If an adult working member from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family dies due to COVID, one member will get Rs 1 lakh compensation: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa," ANI tweeted.

The Chief Minister also said that the decision will benefit about 25,000 to 30,000 such families incurring an expenditure of Rs 250 crore to Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer, as per a report by PTI.

Also, auto-rickshaws and cabs resumed operations in Dharwad from today after the Karnataka government announced some relaxation in 19 districts in Covid-19 induced lockdown.

 

As per the notification, under the rules auto-rickshaws and cabs will run till 7 pm while all industries have been allowed to resume operations with 50 percent staff. The weekend curfew would be in force from 7 pm on June 18 to 5 am on June 21.

Night curfew would be in force on each night on the remaining days between 7 pm to 5 am during the aforementioned period.  

As per the data, the state has reported 7,810 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday while 18,648 recoveries and 125 deaths. There are 1,80,835 active cases in the state.
