Kaala box office collection: Moviegoers this week can have a gala time as two mighty films, Rajinikanth starrer Kaala and Chris Pratt's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, have hit the screens. Both the movies have already generated huge interest, but they cater to different segments of the audience. Kaala is originally a Tamil film and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is an English film. Competition will be fierce indeed, but Kaala collection is expected to hit the Rs 100 cr mark target soon.

Talking about the Jurassic World and Kaala box office collections, exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi told Bollywoodlife, “In an ideal scenario, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will open to a collection of Rs 3.50 – 4 crore on day one. Over the weekend, it should make nearly Rs 15 – 18 crore. In fact, it could have been much higher had the film released in 3D too, however, now it will be affected."

"Kaala, on the other hand, should make a bare minimum amount of Rs 35 – 40 crore on day one through all the versions (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu). In fact, it will earn Rs 5 crore plus from the Hindi version itself on the first day, which is fantastic. And if the word of mouth publicity is decent, it will easily cross the Rs 100 crore mark over the first weekend,” Akshaye added.

Talking about the buzz around the movies, Akshaye said, “Kaala and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are two mighty films and people are quite excited to see both of them. The fact that they cater to different audiences is going to be very beneficial.”

Kaala box office collection has already created box office history. Its collection on opening day clocked a whopping Rs 1.76 crore - in Chennai, this is the highest opening day grosser ever. Kaala has thereby passed Thalapathy Vijay starrer Mersal in Chennai. “#Superstar @rajinikanth’s #Kaala storms the #Chennai City Box Office. Creates a New All-time Box Office Record for Day 1 opening – Rs 1.76 crore,” is what  trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted about this big Rajinikanth triumph.
