Zee Business reporter Pooja Makkar has reported that Johnson and Johnson has written a letter to Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) requesting the study of single shot COVID-19 vaccine on individuals between 12 and 17 years of age in India.
ANI has also tweeted, "Johnson & Johnson has submitted an application to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to conduct a study of its COVID-19 vaccine in India in adolescents aged 12-17 years."

According to a report by news agency ANI, US pharma giant Johnson and Johnson has received emergency approval in India from Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
The ANI report stated that the pharma company had informed that it was an important milestone that has paved the way for bringing the single dose COVID-19 vaccine called Janssen to the people of India.
The pharma company's statement reads, "The EUA submission is based on topline efficacy and safety data from the Phase 3 clinical trial ENSEMBLE, which demonstrated our single-shot vaccine was 85 per cent effective in preventing severe disease across all regions studies, and showed protection against COVID-19 related hospitalisation and death, beginning 28 days after vaccination."
It has to be noted that in India, COVID-19 vaccination drive for all adults above 18 years of age is going on but vaccination for those below 18 years have not yet started. The request for Johnson and Johnson's study of its single-shot vaccine for those between 12 and 17 years of age can be important development for the COVID-19 vaccination scenario in India.
Speaking of the COVID-19 situation in India, as per the data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 36,571 new cases in the last 24 hours. 57.22 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
