Indian Railways Recruitment: If you are preparing for government jobs, here is a great opportunity. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Indian Railways would soon provide 2.5 lakh new jobs. Piyush Goyal has stated, "New employment opportunities have been created for 2.25 to 2.5 lakh people and currently recruitment process of 1.5 lakh vacant positions are under process. The Railways will therefore provide as many as 4 lakh jobs.

Piyush Goyal has also said that 50 percent reservation for women in the recruitment of constable and sub-inspector in the Indian Railways recruitment drive will also be introduced. The process for the recruitment of about 9000 posts of constables and sub-inspectors in the Indian Railways will start soon. 

Earlier in January 2019, Indian Railways had announced that four lakh jobs will be created by 2021. In these jobs, 10 percent reservation quota will also be applicable for economically backward class candidates. Currently, posts for the total 15.06 lakh employees in Indian Railways are approved, said Piyush Goyal, adding that out of this, 12.23 lakh people got jobs, while 2.82 vacancies are still vacant.

The Railway Minister said, "Last year, we started the recruitment process for 1.51 lakh posts. Of that 1.31 lakh posts are still vacant. About 99000 posts will be vacant in coming two years because as many as 53,000 in 2019 and 46,000 employees in 2020 will retire."
