IT department conducts raid at former NSE CEO Chitra Ramkrishnas house for reportedly sharing confidential information

Investigation wing of Income Tax Department conducted a raid and searches at the house of Chitra Ramkrishna, former MD & CEO of the NSE, on Thursday. The searches at the house of Ramkrishna were related to alleged sharing of confidential information with a third person.
"The search has been carried out since the morning and it is the second time that the Income Tax Department has conducted a raid at the NSE's former MD's house. The last raid was conducted in 2017," said Zee Business correspondent Tarn Sharma.

The raid comes after Sebi found serious lapses in the governance and ethical conduct of Ramkrishna. Besides Sebi, CBI, Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate ae also doing separate investigation in the matter, he said.
Sebi in its order had found that Ramkrishna was sharing confidential information relating to the exchange with an unknown third person and imposed a fine of Rs.3 crore on her.
In an order on February 11, the Sebi had imposed a penalty of ₹2 crore on NSE and barred it from launching any new products for the next 6 months for failing to take action against Ramkrishna.
