Is Brexit a golden opportunity for Indian immigrants?
According to Care Ratings, Brexit can result a plus point for India as labour does come at a lower cost unlike that from the EU.
It was a close call in the beginning but a losing battle once the vote count began. Epitaphs are currently being written on Great Britain, European Union (EU) and global economy. India, too, is expected to suffer (as was seen in the equity and forex markets). However, there is some silver lining for one section of Indians. Who are they?
Immigrants.
While Brexit is bad for Indian business, it looks like Britain leaving EU is a good deal for Indian immigrants. The sentiment is shared by entire Commonwealth.
Earlier, British businesses preferred locals first and then Europeans because Britain was part of EU. That is now set to change.

An Indian Express report seconded Care Ratings assessment and said, many Asian businesses and community leaders are convinced that if Britain leaves the EU, Commonwealth citizens from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will have more job opportunities.
When asked how Brexit will benefit British Asians, an official spokesperson for the ‘Leave’ campaign, popularly known as Brexit camp, told The Indian Express that British Asians have strong roots emerging in the Commonwealth. The countries have deep historical and cultural tie -p with Britain, and somehow linked with EU has disabled us from strengthening these relation. We have a biased immigration policy, which turns away the brightest and the best from countries like India.
As of May this year, net migration in Britain rose to its second highest level ever of 1.84 lakh immigrants arriving from EU.
This space will now be hotly contested by people from all over, including India.
