IRCTC has some very good news for passengers who stand in long queues to buy Indian Railway train tickets. Keeping in mind the festive rush, the Indian Railways has now announced that general tickets will also be made available online. With this facility, passengers will not have to stand in long queues to buy tickets from the reservation counter window. To facilitate this facility, Indian Railways UTS app has been made available across India. Earlier, only reservation and AC compartment tickets were available online hampering passengers.

UTS App
The facility will be available, just before Diwali, from November 1, 2018. Now, the passengers will be able to purchase unreservedor general tickets through UTS app, UTS mobile ticket website and IRCTC website. Besides buying tickets, the passengers will be able to see train status, timing, etc on the app. Till now this app was available with only limited number of passengers. This app is used by Mumbai local train passengers to book their tickets. Now, this app will be available everywhere to provide ticket booking service.

The Indian Railways passengers can download the UTS app from Playstore or Apple store. The passengers can also visit utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in website or IRCTC website to purchase tickets. Passengers have to register themselves on the app. To register, passengers have to provide mobile number, name, name of the city or town, and the class. Once you have completed this step, you will be able to send money to this app for ticket purchase. Not only this, with the app you can also buy platform tickets.

The passengers should keep in mind that they will be able to book general tickets on the same day of journey. They will not be able to purchase them in advance. To book tickets through this app the passenger has to be within 90 metre radius of the Railway station. If you try to book ticket from outside that distance the app will not work.

With this facility the Railway tickets will go paperless. However, there will be option at stations to take out print out of the virtual ticket. Passengers will be able to take out printout from ATVM at the platforms.

The passengers will also be able to make monthly pass through this UTS app.
