Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the online ticketing arm of the Indian Railways, now allows its passengers to change the boarding station ahead of their planned train journey.

Apart from these services like allowing change of boarding station, IRCTC also allows its users to book meals online, flight tickets, hotel stays, tour packages and other services like booking retiring rooms and lounges on railway stations.
According to the IRCTC's website, the passengers who want to avail the benefits for boarding station changing facility they need to change the boarding station of train 24 hours ahead of the journey.
If in case the boarding station is changed within 24 hours of the set departure of the train, then the passenger will not get the refund on cancellation. However, In case if the cancellation of a train, non-attachment of coach, late running of a train by more than three hours, then normal refund rules shall be applicable.
According to IRCTC, Passengers should know that the Boarding station change facility is not allowed for the tickets booked with VIKALP option and for I-Ticket. If boarding station has been changed at the time of booking, then passengers can change boarding station one more time from 'Booked Ticket History' section on the IRCTC website or mobile application.
Passenger should not travel the original boarding station if a passenger has changed the boarding station. In case if they found travelling without any proper authority to travel, then they will have to pay the fare with penalty between original boarding station to changed boarding station.
