Indian Railways to improve IRCTC food services; just see what it turned to for solution

To make for unforgettable trips for its passengers in more ways than one, Indian Railways has decided to change the current situation by adopting Artificial Intelligence technology known as Obots. This will lead to serving of hygienic and healthy food on-board. The catering arm of the national transporter, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), will use AI vision detection, said a Daily Pioneer report. Under the plan, high definition cameras, connected to huge monitors, have reportedly been installed at all the 16 base kitchens of the IRCTC in Delhi. 
 
According to the report, the system will track any rodent or cockroach in any of the base kitchens and with the AI help, the issue will reach different stakeholders, including the IRCTC Managing Director, in real time.
 
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has recently emphasized upon using the latest technique to transform the face of Indian Railways. A senior railway official reportedly stated that Obots will be used to track any peculiarity in the catering operations, and added that if a chef is not wearing the proper uniform, the system will track that and notify it to the server. The information will send the report to the mobile of the concerned contractor immediately and if the issue is not addressed within 15 minutes, it will be reported to IRCTC authorities concerned, the official said.
 
The report quoting the official said that if no action followed then the issue will be go to IRCTC Managing Director, adding that the technology will soon be fully operational.
 
The idea has reportedly been chalked out in the wake of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's report in Parliament last year, about flies, insects, dust, rats and cockroaches found in trains and food items. The CAG report had also mentioned about casual attitude in preparation of beverages and use of unpurified water straight from the tap.

Notably, Indian Railways is also planning to implement the airline catering model to provide mini-meal facility for passengers to ensure better food quality in every way. This service is likely to be started in those trains whose catering facilities come under the IRCTC control. Initially, it will be adopted on those routes where journey is of 5 to 6 hours.
