Currently, passengers rely on various Indian Railways apps, such as UTS for unreserved tickets, IRCTC Rail Connect for bookings, and others like National Train Enquiry System for train status updates. The upcoming app, however, will merge these into one unified platform, removing the need for users to navigate between multiple applications. This app will also enable functionalities such as booking passenger and platform tickets, checking train status, and managing reservations.

A senior railway official confirmed that IRCTC will continue to serve as the main interface for ticket bookings, with integration efforts currently in progress to link it seamlessly with the upcoming super app. As one of the most popular railway applications, IRCTC Rail Connect, which has now exceeded 100 million downloads, is expected to maintain its central role within the new platform.

This integration aims to provide users with a streamlined and efficient experience, combining IRCTC's trusted services with the convenience of the new app's additional features. The unified platform is set to enhance ease of access for railway passengers, offering a comprehensive solution for booking, managing, and tracking train journeys.

In FY 2023-24, IRCTC reported a net profit of Rs 1,111.26 crore with ticketing contributing over 30 percent of its Rs 4,270.18 crore revenue. This super app initiative is seen as a potential avenue to further boost IRCTC’s revenue by offering a seamless, comprehensive experience for railway passengers across India.
