Indian Railways new timetable:  Timings of more than 300 Northern Railway trains is set to change courtesy the new timetable. The Indian Railways new schedule will come into effect from August 15, according to a report. There are a lot of changes in the time table of Northern Railway. Some 57 trains' timings have been brought forward while 58 trains will depart later than the timings at present according to the new Indian Railways timetable.

Timings for train arrivals also will change in the new schedule, according to a PTI report. Some 102 incoming trains have been brought forward while 84 trains timings have been pushed forward.  "It is notified for the information of general public that Northern Railways' new time table will be effective from August 15," an Indian Railways statement read.

Indian Railways passengers should check train timings from railway enquiry before commencing their journey, the statement said. The Indian Railways is one of the largest Railway network in India and transports lakhs of people. In another development, it is reported that the Northern Railway has the maximum number of vacancies with 31,222 posts,  while the Central Railway has 21,359 empty posts. The Eastern Railway has 19,558 vacant posts while Western Railway has 19,052 vacant posts.

As many as 2.5 lakh positions are vacant with the Indian Railways' 17 zones, according to April 2018 figures.
