In order to make watertight security arrangements for the 73rd Independence Day on August 15, Indian Railways have launched 'Operation Number Plate', under which, vehicles standing at railway stations across the country are being investigated. The operation that commenced from August 9 and continued till August 11, has revealed that over one lakh vehicles were checked under the supervision of DG, Railway Protection Force, Arun Kumar.

Under this campaign, vehicles stationed in the parking area for one to five days or more are being checked. The probe conducted in the Delhi Division between August 9 and August 11 has come out with startling facts that as many as 128 vehicles were found to be parked more than five days.

Three stolen vehicles found

During the campaign, three stolen vehicles were also found, and the FIRs have also been registered in different police stations about them. There were a few suspicious vehicles against which investigations are on. In Ghaziabad, 19 vehicles were found standing for more than five days, 20 were found at Old Delhi Railway station, while 21 were found standing at Delhi Cantt station.

Vehicles owners quizzed

The RPF probe also found a four-wheeler standing in the parking area for more than five days. Investigations are being done about this vehicle. The owners of all vehicles parked in the parking lot for more than five days are being contacted for further questioning.
