The Indian Railways has been introducing various measures for making train ticket booking for passengers easier than ever. One of the most highlighted measures was revamping of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website, where one can book tickets in just a few minutes eliminating the need to stand at the booking windows in railway stations. Indian Railways in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha stated that, booking of Railway reserved tickets through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) mobile app can be made using various payment modes enabled by Government or private banks through Multiple Payment Providers. 

These 5 Multiple Payment Providers in IRCTC Mobile app are: 

  • Net Banking
  • Debit cards
  • Credit cards
  • Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
  • Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM)

Indian Railways said, "All these payment gateways are provided by five Multiple Payment Providers integrated on IRCTC Mobile App."

Also, it highlighted that IRCTC has issued guidelines for integration of the payment providers who are authorized to provide payment gateways as per the extant instructions issued by Reserve Bank of India (RBI)/ and other competent authorities from time to time.

Any Government or private bank or payment gateway facilitator following the terms and conditions of the IRCTC guidelines can be integrated on IRCTC mobile app, explained by Railways.

2. One step PIN based secure login to existing users are available. 

3. Search and book train tickets facilities.
