Indian Railways train ticket booking online: Do you book your train ticket using Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation website irctc.co.in? Have you ever faced difficulties in getting a refund after the cancellation of your ticket? If yes, then this idea might interest you. It's well known that some users had found it difficult to make payments for ticket booking after the government had announced waiving of service charge in Budget 2017. However, some of the users did not find their bank card in the IRCTC payment list. Also, the IRCTC had found that third-party payment gateway services were one of the reasons behind the delay in refunds. So, the railways catering arm had come up with its own payment aggregator IRCTC-iPay. The IRCTC had received PCI-DSS security certificate for it in June 2018.

The IRCTC had integrated its system with most of the banks. It said that the new system will help in a fast resolution of the refund cases. So, if you are booking tickets using the IRCTC site, you can select the iPay on the payment page. It will show the transaction charges which is zero for all domestic debit cards for up to Rs 1 lakh. Like other payment gateways, it charges 1.8% for credit card payments, Rs 10 + applicable taxes in case of net banking payments and zero for up to Rs 2000 and Rs 10+applicable taxes for the amount above Rs 2000 in case of payment using UPI.

The IRCTC iPay is live on the IRCTC payment page and provides all payment options like Credit Card, Debit Card, International Card, Auto Debit, UPI, Wallets etc.

The charges levied by the IRCTC iPay is the same as other gateway services. However, the advantage that IRCTC iPay provides you over other payment gateway is the faster refund in case of cancellation.
