Indian markets continue to fall, Sensex tumbles over 440 points
Key equity indices closed in red ahead of IIP and CPI data on Monday.
The 30-scrip Sensex fell 443.71 points or 1.54% to 28,353. While the bigger 50-scrip NSE Nifty was also down 1.7% at 8,715.60.
BSE Sensex did not change much since the day's open which was 1.54% lower at 28,364.64.
The Sensex touched a high of 28,481.11 points and a low of 28,251.31 points during the intra-day trade.
On Friday, BSE Sensex tumbled over 200 points to close at 28,782.25, while NSE Nifty traded below 8,900-mark.
Among the top gainers on BSE were Cyient Ltd (7%), Trent Ltd (4.26%), Delta Corporation (2.39%), Strides Shasun Ltd (2.34%), Finolex Cables Ltd (2.47%)
Among the losers were Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd (13.51%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd (10.85%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (8.99%), DLF Ltd (8.08%) and IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd (7.54%).
