Indian duo shatters Guinness World Record for fastest travel across 7 continents

The Guinness World Records has confirmed that Dr. Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra have successfully broken the world record for travelling all 7 continents of Antarctica, South America, Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania in the fastest time possible. The duo completed the trip in 3 days 1 hour 5 minutes and 4 seconds. Starting on December 4, 2022 in Antarctica, Dr. Irani and Sujoy Mitra finished their epic journey in Melbourne, Australia, on 7 December 2022.
 
Both Mitra and Dr. Irani are avid travellers. Dr. Irani, aged 64, has also been physiotherapist to the Indian Cricket Team and is a well-known name in his field. He has travelled to over 90 countries so far. Sujoy Mitra followed his calling in travel and moved on from corporate life to follow his passion by starting an entrepreneurship venture in travel. Sujoy hopes to add another feather in his cap by becoming the most travelled Indian – he is well on his way having covered 172 countries out of a total on 198 countries around the world.
 
Expressing his joy at the achievement of breaking the Guinness record, Dr. Ali Irani said, “Travelling transcends boundaries and unites people around the world. Breaking a world record for something we both are so passionate about is a very satisfying feeling. We are humbled by this achievement and hope it will contribute in some way to get more people to travel and explore our beautiful world.”
 
The previous record for fastest travel across seven continents was held by Dr. Khawla AlRomaithi of UAE who, in February 2020, took in 3 days 14 hours 46 min 48 seconds. Sujoy Mitra and Dr. Irani have bettered this record by nearly 13 hours!

Today, we may have been successful in breaking a record, tomorrow someone else will break our record.
