India recorded 14,146 COVID-19 cases in a day, taking the infection tally to 3,40,67,719 while 144 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,52,124.

The number of active Covid cases has declined to 1,95,846, the lowest in 220 days while the national recovery rate was at 98.10 per cent, according to a statement issued by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.

“The Active Caseload falls below 2 lakh mark and is presently at 1,95,846, which is lowest in 220 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.57% of the country's total Positive Cases,” added the statement.

The recovery of 19,788 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,34,19,749.

As many as 11,00,123 tests were conducted on Saturday, taking the cumulative tests conducted so far for the detection of COVID-19 in the country to 59,09,35,381.

“Sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs continue the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 112 consecutive days now,” observed the ministry.

According to a PTI report, 144 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours pushing Covid-19 death toll to 4,52,124.

On the vaccination front, with the administration of 41,20,772 doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 97.65 Cr (97,65,89,540) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.  This has been achieved through 96,46,485 sessions.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
