India COVID-19 daily update, April 9, 2023: Coronavirus active tally jumps to 32,814 as country adds 5,000 fresh cases in last 24 hours, Delhi, Mumbai see surge
Covid Update: In the last 24 hours, ten deaths were reported which took the death toll to 5,30,965. Three deaths were reported from Gujarat, two were from Himachal Pradesh, and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
Covid Update: India on Sunday logged 5,357 fresh coronavirus cases, while the number of active cases climbed to over 32,000, according to Union health ministry data.
In the last 24 hours, ten deaths were reported which took the death toll to 5,30,965. Three deaths were reported from Gujarat, two were from Himachal Pradesh, and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, the data updated at 8 am stated.
At 32,814, the active cases comprise 0.07 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent, according to the health ministry website.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.39 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.54 per cent.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,92,837 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
Continuing the surge in Covid cases, the total count of coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh has gone up to 1,025. A total of 188 new cases were reported on Saturday with 52 in Gautam Buddha Nagar, followed by 27 in Ghaziabad, and 26 in Lucknow.
In the state capital, four new cases each surfaced from Aliganj and Sarojini Nagar, three from Alambagh, and two from Chinhat. The number of active Covid cases in Lucknow has shot up to 177.
The national capital reported 2232 active Covid-19 cases, while Maharastra reported 4360 active Covid-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's official website.
