Income Tax: CBDT issues refunds of over Rs 183,579 cr to over 2 cr taxpayers

Income Tax: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a refund of more than Rs 1,83,579 crore to more over 2.09 crore taxpayers for the time period between 1 April, 2021 till 28 February, 2022.

"CBDT issues refunds of over Rs. 1,83,579 crore to more than 2.09 crore taxpayers from 1st Apr,2021 to 28th Feb,2022. Income tax refunds of Rs. 65,938 crore have been issued in 2,07,27,503 cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs. 1,17,641 crore have been issued in 2,30,566 cases," Income Tax India tweeted from its official Twitter handle on Wednesday.

"This includes 1.70 crore refunds of AY 2021-22 amounting to Rs. 34,202.31 crore," a subsequent tweet informed.

CBDT had issued income tax refunds of Rs 1.71 lakh crore to nearly two crore taxpayers in the current financial year till 14 February, 2022.

The CBDT had issued Rs 1.62 lakh crore income tax refunds to over 1.79 crore taxpayers till January 24, 2022 of the current fiscal year, as per an ANI report.
