LPG cylinder price hike: At a time when people are already feeling the pinch of petrol, diesel price hikes, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for the subsidised and non-subsidised cylinders become dearer by Rs 2.34 and Rs 48, respectively, in Delhi today. Subsidised (14.2 Kg) cylinder will be available at Rs 493.55 and non-subsidised cylinder at Rs 698.50 in Delhi. Subsidised cylinders were priced at Rs 496.65 in Kolkata, while they were ruling at Rs 491.31 in Mumbai. In Chennai the price of subsidised cylinders was at Rs 481.84. Non-subsidised cylinder in Kolkata and Mumbai were Rs 723.50 and Rs 671.50, respectively, while it Rs 712.50 in Chennai.
The move came despite the Central government attracting widespread criticism for the elevated fuel prices. Petrol and diesel prices may have been cut by minuscule amounts - fell by 6 paise and 5 paise per litre respectively on Friday - yet they are still at highs that were not ever seen before.
In Delhi, Petrol now costs Rs 78.29 per litre, while diesel price has been revised to Rs 69.20 a litre. Petrol and diesel prices were revised in other metro cities too. Petrol was Rs 80.92 in Kolkata and Rs 86.10 in Mumbai.

Diesel was Rs 71.75 in Kolkata and Rs 73.67 in Mumbai. Prices were being slashed for the third day after it soard to multi-year high.
