IIT, Bombay tops world university ranking list in India; you wont believe whom it beat and who is at bottom

Which is the best institute in India on global parameters? Going by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has topped the charts! IIT, Bombay has emerged as the best ranked institute in the country, although on a global scale, the ranking is still low.
IIT, Bombay's position improved significantly from last year, moving up by 17 places, from 179 to be now ranked at 162nd spot. With an overall score of 48.2 out of 100, it scored 52.5 in academic reputation, 72.9 in employer reputation, 54.1 in citation per faculty, 43.3 in faculty student ratio, 4.4 in international faculty and 1.8 in international students, all scores out of a maximum of 100 points.
Among these six parameters under study, employer reputation is the strongest one with a global rank of 93.
“The increase in rank is a reflection of continuous improvement in all spheres of our activity," said Professor Devang Khakhar, director, IIT-B.
The achievement by IIT, Bombay is big as it beat none other than the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, which came in second in India. The institute did see the highest jump among Indian institutes, moving 20 places up from 190th position to 170th position, while IIT Delhi remained at the same position of 172nd.
Other Indian top-ranked institutes on Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World rankings 2019 list include IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati. IIT Kanpurimproved its ranking from 293 last year to 283, IIT Kharagpur from 308 to 295, IIT Roorkee from 431-440 band to 381, and IIT Guwahati from 501-550 band to 472nd position.

IIT Madras, however, remained unchanged at 264th position.
However, the most talked about point is that, like the last few years, Mumbai University failed to feature anywhere in the top and actually falling to the bottom of the list (800-1000).
The major takeaway from this year's study is Indian institutes did well when it comes to research citations per faculty.
