Dr U.S Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO, said on Wednesday that the company's nano fertilizer will bring a revolution in the world of agriculture. He said that it will be patented in due course. He revealed that just two grammes of nano fertilizer will work equal to as much as 100 kg urea.
In a discussion with the media at IFFCO's Phulpur unit, Awasthi said, "It will be a revolutionary step in terms of the production cost of the farmers. It will also reduce the imbalance of the soil. We have already applied for its patent and it is likely to happen in two years. "
He said that as an experiment, 100 percent of nano fertilizer was used at one place, while 25 percent urea was put in a different place along with 75 percent nano-technology fertilizer. There was no shortage in yield capacities in both places. Awasthi said that IFFCO has set up a nano fertilizer laboratory at its Kalol plant in Gujarat.
He explained that IFFCO has planted over 45 lakh trees of neem across the country and Forest Research Institute of India is doing research on enabling a neem tree to grow full in just five years. At present, a Neem tree takes around 10 years to prepare a full grown tree.
IFFCO is also working with Sikkim Government to set up a plant, where biological products will be processed and sold. In Punjab, a plant is being set up with the help of Spanish technology where vegetables will be kept frozen and exported.
