Railways arm Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) has been introducing various facilities on multiple occasions to make journey of passengers flexible and enjoyable. Among these moves is the IRCTC Rail Connect App, which lets a passenger not only book tickets but also take care of facilities like cab service, food service, reservation and importantly, even manage cancellations. Often there comes a time when a planned journey gets cancelled due to different situations, which leaves no option but to cancel tickets.

However, to avoid rush at Indian Railways windows and even IRCTC website, one can cancel tickets and also avail refund amounts through IRCTC Rail Connect App. 

How to cancel train ticket online: Check out the steps required to cancel ticket

Tap on Cancel Ticket option which shows on the left menu page of the app, for cancelling ticket before the final chart preparation. 

 

After clicking on the option, your ticket details get displayed with ‘Cancel Ticket’ mentioned below. 

 

Select all or specific passengers to cancel full ticket or specific passengers respectively. After doing so, one can confirm the cancellation. 

 

Steps to File TDR

To File TDR for the ticket after the final chart preparation, one should tap on File TDR option given on left page.

 

Once clicked on the option, tap on the ticket to File TDR.

 

A box to select passenger whose ticket you want to cancel will be displayed. Check the box to select the passenger to File TDR.

 

The fourth step would be reason for  for filing TDR. One can select the reason mentioned by IRCTC in the option. 

 

After selecting the reason, one should confirm the TDR filing. 

There will be a confirmation message before completing the process of TDR.  Tap ‘Yes’ if you want to file TDR and ‘No’ if you don’t want to file TDR.
