Housing for All target to be achieved in 2019, not 2022, says Centre
Hardeep Singh Puri, the MoS for Housing & Urban Affairs said that the total number of houses to be sanctioned under the scheme is 11 million and until now, they have sanctioned the construction of about 4.5 million units. However, every month they are sanctioning up to 3-5 lakh units, added Puri.
The target for the sanctioning of the construction of affordable housing in the ‘Housing For All’ scheme will be achieved by mid-year in 2019 against the proposed deadline of 2022, said the government.

‘Housing for all’ is an ambitious project launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to data, more than 2.5 lakh homes in Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna have been sanctioned and construction work for more than 25,800 homes has already started. In the rural sector of the state, the government has assured that they will have 1 crore homes sanctioned by December 2018.

“The Special Development Zone demarcated in the DP and also the construction of affordable homes in the ‘No Development Zone’ will add a boost to the affordable housing sector,” said Mayur Shah, President of the CREDAI-MCHI.
