Ahead of Holi, the Indian Railways has been making arrangements to clear the festive rush and make travel hassle-free.
Holi 2019 travel planner: Ahead of Holi, the Indian Railways has been making arrangements to clear the festive rush and make travel hassle-free. To clear the extra rush, railways has announced a number of trains from Delhi to states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The railways has also tweaked the timings of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking Tatkal tickets.
IRCTC Tatkal Ticket Booking Timing
Earlier, the Advance Reservation Period for booking tatkal tickets was two days excluding the date of journey from the train's originating station. Let's assume that if your journey date was March 5, the booking of Tatkal tickets used to start on March 3. But now, it has been reduced to one day. So, if you want to travel on March 18, you can book your ticket on March 17. Tatkal Ticket can be booked on opening day from 10:00 hrs for AC class (1A/2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and at 11:00 hrs for Non- AC class(SL/FC/2S).
Indian Railways rules for boarding a train
Due to an increase in the rush, the security has been beefed up at the railway stations. So, if you are leaving for stations, try to reach around 30 minutes before the departure time of the train as you will have to clear the security check and you may also face long queues at the station.

The railways has announced several pairs of Holi special trains. Northern Railway has announced as many as 46 trips of these special trains. Below is the list:
