Highest Temperature in Delhi: Minister asked for confirmation whether Delhi temperature reached 52.3 degrees; here's how IMD responded
Highest Temperature in Delhi: On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi's Mungeshpur reached 52.3 degree Celsius. But even the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) itself could not accept the fact that the temperature was so high. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also had to issue a statement, after which, the met department gave its clarification.
Highest Temperature in Delhi: Delhi is known for its harsh summers. Temperatures crossing the 45 degree Celsius barrier become a common sight in the summer. But this summer is extraordinary, as the temperature is hovering around 50 degrees every now and then. But if it reaches 52.3 degrees, it is sure to turn heads for everyone who has witnessed Delhi summers.
It gives the impression of a desert-like feeling in a city that owes its high temperatures to heatwaves from the desert land.
So, when it reached 52.3 degrees, not only did it surprise people across India, but it also forced Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to ask the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to confirm if such a high temperature really happened in Delhi.
What did Kiran Rijiju say?
Reacting to the news of the highest temperature in New Delhi, Kiren Rijiju said in a tweet, "It is not official yet. A temperature of 52.3 °C in Delhi is very unlikely. Our senior officials in IMD have been asked to verify the news report. The official position will be stated soon."

After the Union Minister tweeted, IMD said that the update of the temperature more than 52 degrees in Mungeshpur on Wednesday may be due to a fault in the sensor or a local factor. Currently, the data and sensor are being investigated.

Delhi weather changed in the evening
While the news of scorching heat ruled the roost in the afternoon, the mood of the weather changed in the city in the evening.
There was rain and a dust storm at many places in Delhi-NCR.
It gave some relief to the people, but the Meteorological Department predicts that this may increase the humidity a bit.
However, the IMD has predicted a dust storm on May 30 and 31 as well.
Rain along with storm has also been predicted for 1 June.
