Lok Sabha Elections 2019: One of the most popular ministers in PM Narendra Modi-led Union government, Nitin Gadkari filed his nomination from Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency Monday. Gadkari is the sitting MP of Nagpur. In an affidavit filed along with the nomination papers before the Election Commission, Gadkari has declared movable and immovable assets worth Rs 25.12 crore. Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency will go to polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 on April 11. Gadkari's affidavit reveals interesting facts about his wealth. The senior BJP leader, who is also a former president of the party, owns more in immovable properties like land than cash. He also has very small investments in savings schemes, mutual funds, shares and bonds.

According to Gadkari's tax return forms, his total income in 2013-14 was Rs 2,66,390 and Rs 6,40,700 in 2017-18, news agency PTI reported. As per the affidavit, the senior BJP leader owns movable assets worth Rs 69,38,691, while his wife has movable assets worth Rs 91,99,160. There is also a sum of Rs 66,07,924 is in the name of the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).

The report says, Gadkari owns immovable assets worth Rs 6,95,98,325 while his wife has Rs 6,48,60,325. The sum of Rs 9,40,31,224 mentioned was in the name of HUF.
Gadkari has also declared over 29 acres of agricultural land in Dhapewada in Nagpur. Out of these, 15 acres are registered in the name of his wife and 14.60 acres are owned by HUF. Gadkari has also declared an ancestral house at Mahal (Nagpur) and a flat at an MLA Society in Worli (Mumbai).

Gadkari's total investment in savings schemes, mutual bonds, shares

In his election affidavit, Gadkari informed the election commission that he has invested Rs 3,55,510 in savings schemes, mutual funds, bonds and shares. There are Rs 8,99,111 cash in his bank account. The bank balance of his wife is Rs 11,07,909.

Gadkari also owes Rs 1,57,21,753 to banks in the form of loans. The BJP has also declared six cars in the affidavit, including four in the name of his wife.
